ABC
I am working on a new series with a working title of ABC. The theme, or unifying motif, is the alphabet as a cataloging device. Here's where that idea came from; I received a vintage accordion folder and I instantly fell in love with it. The card stock is about twice the thickness of contemporary…Back in the studio — painting recipes?
Here we are in a Covid-affected world where we all have created our own "new normal". For me this means working from home instead of the studio where I usually work as a full-time interpretive graphic designer. One benefit for me of this new normal is I've finally had the opportunity to set up my…Rustic Sampler
Happy, happy — summer is here!! Vancouver is a dream in summer. We are blessed with minimum humidity and very fresh air. And although I enjoy my Vitamin D fix, I also enjoy spending a bit of time indoors in the evenings to continue with my projects. Recently I created this sampler, below, to test…
A great market day
Market day was busy and fun and very sugary with so many holiday sweets to sample. My collages and broaches were well represented and went home with lots of shoppers. I hope a few make it under someone’s tree. I feel happy knowing my creativity is bringing others joy as well. Merry Christmas to…
Holiday market collages continue
I am working on my last little collage for the sale. I think this sweet one is missing a little doily pattern. Then, voila! Tous finis!! I hope you’re carving out a bit of time to make something special for the holidays too — either for yourself or your sweetheart. I feel warm and happy creating…
Holiday collage update
Today is a brief update on the little collages I’m creating for the craft market which I’ll be participating in early December. I have just about completed the third one (out of six). It’s quite sweet, don’t you agree?
Keep on, keeping on
I’m ticking along with my little collages for the Holiday fair. I have a photo to share of one that is now complete. Personally I like the interpretation of sharing a meal via the butcher diagram. It’s got that cheeky, retro vibe going. Stay tuned for more.. and thanks for popping in!
Holiday Planning
Sorry if you’re not ready to read this, but I’ve been invited to participate in a private Christmas sale so I’m already in the head-space for “the season”. I’m creating six 6″ x 6″ collages all about food. Since food seems to be the on the mind of many of us when we celebrate together,…
Oh the wonderful work of Tilleke Schwarz
I was in my element two weeks ago when I joined Tilleke and 13 other talented artists in an embroidery workshop hosted by the Maiwa School of textiles in their beautiful loft studio on Granville Island. Together we spent three creative days stitching, sharing and collaging wonderful nothings on cloth and with paper. I say…
Gala Painting : Day 2
This past Monday the fantastic students at Ecole Pauline Johnston’s gr. 6/7 class and I worked together again on their mixed media collage for the school’s gala fundraiser. Since I’d left the painting at the school last week, but needed to prepare for this next session, I decided to make a quick mock-up to help…
